Every community has its own rules. Ask for a list.
Ask the community for the apartment’s floor plan and measurements, including the closet. A move manager can map out where Dad’s recliner, dresser, and TV will go, so nothing arrives that doesn’t fit. They can also be the one to tell Dad, kindly, which pieces won’t fit, so that conversation doesn’t fall on you.
Put Dad’s name on clothes, glasses cases, hearing aid boxes, canes, and walkers. Shared laundry and busy dining rooms make it easy for things to wander.
The familiar matters more than the new. His own blanket, a favorite lamp, the clock from the kitchen, and pictures of family can make the first night easier. If he had a workshop or a hobby, bring a small piece of it, like a model kit or a toolbox of safe tools, if the community allows.
Pack a separate bag with medications (and a printed list), pajamas, a change of clothes, toiletries, phone and charger, glasses, and hearing aids. Keep it with you, not on the truck.
Many communities limit space heaters, extension cords, and certain appliances. Ask for the list before packing so nothing has to be sent home.

Yes. Labels help with laundry and keep Mom’s clothes from getting mixed up with someone else’s.
